As a side note ontop of my previous post, I’d just like to add, that from a cultural perspective:
- I’m not British, that’s just my ancestry.
- I’m not New Zealander. New Zealand is just where I was born and live.
- I’m not Christian, that’s just part of past of where the society I live in has come from.
I’m Jethro, and my cultural identity is “internet”.
When I stop to think about it, I don’t really identify with anything in the real world society around me, everything I care about is happening on a global scale with people all over the world.
My culture is lwn.net, slashdot.org, gnu.org, kernel.org, wikipedia.org, twitter.com, even a bit of 4chan and other fringe sites. And I wouldn’t have it any other way – this is what’s important, this is me.
